Investing in Safety: GM Brings Crucial Features to 98% of Its 2023 Models
Leading automaker, General Motors (GM), is boosting safety features in 2023. They’re including Automatic Emergency Braking and four other safety features in their vehicles, particularly the new EVs. This commitment to enhanced safety extends to all forthcoming models, including popular GM EVs like the family-oriented Chevrolet Blazer EV and Equinox EV. The goal? To reduce accidents and bring peace of mind to drivers.
Surpassing Safety Commitments
GM surpasses its previously signed commitment to provide Automatic Emergency Braking as a standard on 95% of all new vehicles sold. Now, GM raises the bar by including four additional active safety features on 98% of its 2023 models. These safety features include Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and IntelliBeam auto high-beam control.
Research-Driven Safety Enhancements
GM leverages data from safety research to design beneficial option packages. A 2023 study by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) shows these safety features significantly reduce crash rates. Furthermore, a 2022 UMTRI study demonstrated that IntelliBeam reduced nighttime crashes involving animals, pedestrians, and bicyclists by 22%.
The Next Generation of Front Sensors Enhancing GM EVs Safety Features
Several 2023 models, including the Cadillac LYRIQ, feature a new generation of front sensors. These sensors provide an expanded field of vision and additional benefits like Bicyclist Automatic Emergency Braking, smoother Lane Keep Assist engagement, and Blind Zone Steering Assist.
Vision of a Safer Future: GM’s Dedication to Reducing Accidents with Enhanced Safety Features in their EVs
GM’s commitment to active safety is a significant step towards their vision of zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion. While these safety features enhance driving, it remains essential for drivers to stay attentive to traffic, surroundings, and road conditions at all times. GM’s initiative underlines its dedication to reducing accidents and ensuring safer roads for everyone.
